One of Sweden's largest IT service providers continues the introduction of ISO/IEC 27001 with the help of Veriscan - now on a global level.

In 2010, Veriscan had the task of supporting the introduction of ISO/IEC 27001 – the international standard for information security, at one of Sweden's largest IT service providers. Now it is time for the customer to take the next step in the process and begin the work of also certifying other parts of the organization.

Veriscan has received a new agreement with the customer which means support for the customer to achieve certification at three additional sites in different parts of the world. In order to create current assessments of the information security on the various sites, measurement in the form of the Veriscan Rating is included.

"The work will start in 2011, and of course it feels very positive that we have received continued trust to work on these issues. The work that we have carried out so far with the customer has taken place in Sweden, but now they will begin the certification work outside Sweden's borders, which will mean new, exciting challenges both for us and for them," says Daniel Krantz, Veriscan's project manager.

Since the ISO 27000 series is a global standard that works internationally, it will not, however, mean such great differences in the way of working compared to how they worked with the certification on the Swedish site. The standard and the certification process look the same, regardless of the country in which one's organization is located.

"Cultural differences are of course unavoidable, but it gives the challenge an extra dimension, which is only stimulating. I believe that we at Veriscan will be able to benefit greatly from being part of the international team involved in developing the ISO 27000 series. This not only means that we know the standard from the ground up, but also that we are familiar with and have experience of how different countries view the standard and certification," says Daniel Krantz.
