One of Sweden's largest IT service providers is working to certify itself against ISO/IEC 27001 – the international standard for information security. The company has chosen Veriscan as support to achieve certification, a work which is expected to continue during 2010.

"Getting certified shows that the organization's management system for information security has met the requirements according to the standard. The certificate will be used as a reference for customers and suppliers", says Daniel Krantz, who participates in the work of supporting the customer with expert help.

"A certification against the ISO 27000 series works internationally because it is a global standard and also serves as a basis for adaptation to other regulations. The fact that the organization in question already has several other ISO management systems in place, such as 9000 for quality and 14000 for environment, naturally makes things easier. But the information security standard in particular goes deeper because a large amount of technical security measures must be in place in combination with well-functioning regulations," explains Daniel.

The certification work that Veriscan will now carry out at the customer places high demands on experience and broad competence. Veriscan, which has participated in the development of the ISO 27000 series and which can bring together different types of excellence in the field of information security in one team, is therefore well placed to support the customer. The fact that Veriscan has also collaborated with the customer in the past also facilitates the work:

"We have worked with the customer for a long time and to be able to participate in working towards the first 27000 certificate as a project, according to the standard for the introduction of the 27000 series, gives our work and the customer's a clear goal. The target picture also includes that the project should lead to certificates for other parts of the organization as well, something we are already laying the foundations for," concludes Daniel Krantz.
