TeliaSonera acquires all shares in Svenska Stadsnät AB, whose business is focused on selling fiber capacity to municipalities, companies and households. The purchase price is not public.
Svenska Stadsnät's sales amounted to SEK 53 million for the full year 2011 and the company currently has operations in seven municipalities: Laholm, Svalöv, Örkelljunga, Karlshamn, Gislaved, Gnosjö and Mölndal. The company has 14 employees in Gislaved, Mölndal and Landskrona.
- Svenska Stadsnät has an open and customer-oriented culture where service providers can operate in free competition and on equal terms, which coincides with our ambitions. Their network complements our network in a good way and Svenska Stadsnät has successfully established good municipal relations, says Malin Frenning, head of Business Area Broadband Services within TeliaSonera.
The possibility of delivering high capacity to many Swedes in an open fiber network is central to the development of the fiber market, and TeliaSonera and Svenska Stadsnät share that ambition.
- With TeliaSonera as the new owner, our business receives the financial resources required for future expansion. As TeliaSonera is also increasingly developing its open model, our networks and our employees are entering the right environment, says Börje Andersson, chairman of the board of Svenska Stadsnät.
TeliaSonera's wholly owned subsidiary Skanova takes over the operational control of the business and consolidates Svenska Stadsnät's results in its accounts. Business will initially continue in the same way as before. Over time, the forms will be evaluated and developed to provide maximum benefit to TeliaSonera's customers and Svenska Stadsnät's customers. The current management will continue to develop the company's business concept and Svenska Stadsnät's CEO, Jimmy Andreasson, will be part of Skanova's management.
