TeliaSonera is investing SEK 5 billion per year until 2015 in mobile and landline networks in Sweden, as part of which TeliaSonera is acquiring the municipal fiber network in Lindesberg. It is to be used as a basis for further expansion of an open network to villas, businesses, private property owners and the village council in the municipality. The investment also involves an expansion of the 4G network in Lindesberg to a coverage that corresponds to today's GSM network.
The acquisition means that TeliaSonera is responsible for the continued management and for developing, operating and maintaining an open and operator-neutral network. In dialogue and collaboration with Lindesberg Municipality, the city network will be further developed with the vision of the Digital Agenda - that Sweden should be the best in the world at using the possibilities of digitization.
- We are happy that we have been trusted to carry out another city network acquisition in a short time and this time with Lindesberg city network. The municipality has built up the city network from the start and established it in an exemplary manner in close dialogue with the market's stakeholders. Lindesberg, its management and staff, have put the broadband issue on the agenda and thus created an important platform to vigorously push the city network forward, says Anna Philipson, head of TeliaSonera's fiber operations.

Skanova takes over the operational control of the business and further develops the fiber network to provide the greatest benefit to customers.
