The European digital innovation hub will focus on providing new opportunities in the areas of AI, cybersecurity and high-performance computing.
“Through broad collaboration in Mighty, we can help to contribute to further development opportunities in digitalisation for companies and the public sector,” says Torbjörn Jonsson, Project Manager at Propell and RISE in Hudiksvall.
An initiative to promote digitalisation
The new hub is coordinated by RISE and run by Propell in Hudiksvall, Sandbacka Science Park in Sandviken, Dalarna Science Park inBorlänge and Compare in Karlstad. The focus is on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in manufacturing industry and the public sector in developing digitalisation. Specifically in the areas of AI, cybersecurity and high-performance computing.
– We will help contribute to a digital and green transition. Through Mighty, we offer different types of services, including access to test environments, new networks for innovation, opportunities for further training and support in finding funding. We will act as a gateway and help find specific skills that companies may need to accelerate their digital transformation,” says Torbjörn.
One of nine hubs in Sweden
Mighty is one of approximately 200 European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) located across Europe. Sweden has a total of nine hubs with a wide geographical spread and different thematic areas. The Mighty initiative runs during 2024-2026 and has financial support from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (ERDF), Region Gävleborg, Region Dalarna and Region Värmland.
– “It is a great asset for Värmland to have access to another European digital innovation hub. We at Compare are proud to run both Mighty and the region’s other EDIH Health Data Sweden, in collaboration with important actors. Together we can make a big difference for companies, organisations and people’s digital transformation in Europe,” says Magnus Bårdén, CEO of Compare.
Together, Mighty is contributing to the ambitious goals set by the European Commission within the framework of the DIGITAL funding programme, which applies to all EDIHs around Europe;
- Drive digital transformation across the EU by introducing state-of-the-art technologies (AI, cloud computing, big data) to 75% of European businesses.
- Ensure that 90% of businesses have basic digital skills.
- Create new value chains within Europe.
– By helping to bring cutting-edge technologies to Europe’s businesses, we aim not only to drive digital transformation, but also to create a more competitive and sustainable economy. These are ambitious goals and require a lot of hard work, but together with all the other EDIHs, I believe this is possible,” concludes Torbjörn.
