Compare works for the future of cybersecurity – participates in the inauguration of Cybercampus Sweden

The need for increased cyber security is growing day by day. The government is now investing more than SEK 100 million in the coming years in Cybercampus Sweden, which was inaugurated yesterday at KTH.

The aim of the initiative is to strengthen both skills provision and research in cyber security. The Minister for Education, Mats Persson, and the Minister for Civil Defence, Carl-Oskar Bohlin, attended the inauguration.

The planning work for Cybercampus Sweden has been led by KTH, RISE, the Swedish Armed Forces, Karlstad University, Saab, Ericsson and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). More than 150 people from universities, companies and authorities from all over Sweden participated in the planning work, including Compare.

Ingrid Ivars, Digital Transformation Manager at Compare, attended the inauguration.

– “It was an inspiring and important day where we gathered to inaugurate Cybercampus Sweden and discuss the importance of promoting cybersecurity education and research in Sweden. It is clear that this is a high priority for the government and for the future of our country, says Ingrid.

Collaboration is crucial to face evolving threats in the digital world

During his speech, Carl-Oskar Bohlin talked about how Sweden is one of the most digitised countries in the world, yet we are lagging behind when it comes to cybersecurity. He also emphasised that the importance of public and private collaboration cannot be overstated to create ecosystems that work together to close the security gap.

Ingrid Ivars agrees that collaboration is crucial to integrate expertise and face the ever-changing threats of the digital world.

– “It is important to join forces and collaborate between academia, business and the public sector and dare to prioritise cybersecurity now,” says Ingrid. “It’s not just about technology and firewalls, but also about understanding and managing people’s behaviour.

National investment enables groundbreaking research and innovation

Cybercampus Sweden is a national initiative and a collaboration between universities, universities of applied sciences, institutes, authorities and companies across Sweden. Cybercampus Sweden aims to enable pioneering and agile research, innovation and education for cybersecurity and defence, beyond what is possible for individual organisations to achieve.

The initiative will meet needs that are not addressed by any of the other actors in the cybersecurity field, and the results will strengthen both society’s resilience and Sweden’s competitiveness.
