To get there, the industry needs help to visualise its challenges and tools to transform common needs into smart solutions. The Visitors eXperience Lab initiative helps Värmland’s tourism industry with this.
Many of the companies in Värmland’s tourism industry are small or one-man businesses, which makes it difficult for them to implement major changes themselves. That’s why a special, cross-border effort like the Visitors eXperience Lab project is needed. An initiative that gives the tourism industry the conditions to grow smartly with the support of data, digitalisation and joint service development.
The initiative, which started in January, is a collaboration between Compare, Visit Värmland and Karlstad University. The aim is to help the tourism industry develop new innovative services and at the same time increase understanding of how data can be used as a resource in this development.
During the autumn, the focus is on analysing which data can be used for service development. Visit Värmland has access to several data sources, which will be supplemented with data from municipalities, open data and with the support of the Internet of Things (IoT). This will be a unique source for improving the tourism industry in Värmland.
At the same time, efforts are underway to collect needs from various actors in the tourism industry. These needs will then be matched through a new digital platform to develop common services.
