The feasibility study aims to investigate the conditions for creating a test and competence centre in cyber and societal security at Karlstad University to meet society’s increasing security challenges.
It addresses the lack of specialised expertise in AI and cybersecurity, slow implementation of research and the need for strengthened preparedness. By making resources available for testing, training, education and collaboration, the long-term goal is to improve security in the public and private sectors.
The target groups are companies, public organisations and authorities that can strengthen their preparedness through access to advanced test environments and thus contribute to a more resilient society.
The feasibility study includes existing test environments such as RiskLab, Hackerspace, 5G and future 6G, as well as various types of cybersecurity lab environments.
Through this feasibility study we will, among other things:
- Investigate and describe the needs of businesses and the public sector to strengthen competences and increase the pace of innovation through testing and training activities.
- Identify what resources exist or can be developed within the university to meet these needs.
- Identify what other actors and initiatives in the region are involved in similar initiatives where a test and competence centre could contribute to further development.
- Develop contact with other higher education institutions in Sweden and Norway through Cybercampus Sweden and Campus Totalförsvar, which may be relevant for a test centre in cyber and societal security.
- Conduct tests and training activities in different subject environments at Karlstad University.
- Develop a possible business model for how Uppdrags AB can provide services and training in a test and competence centre.
- Explore the need for further project action to strengthen the interaction between the university and the surrounding community.
